Enrollment

Dear Parents,

Welcome to the Calvary Baptist Christian School family.  Yes, we believe that education is a family matter and that our school families should cooperate together as a family for the advancement of the entire educational institution.

The Word of God places the educational responsibilities of children on the parents.  “And ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: But bring them up in nurture (discipline: and admonition (instruction) of the Lord”. (Ephesians 6:4) God has risen up Christian schools to help parents fulfill this responsibility.  “Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord…” (Psalms 127:3)  Children belong to the parents and not the government.

Your placing your child here at CBCS evidences your understanding of this God-given responsibility and willingness to follow God’s command.  Our school is a Christ-centered, Bible-based, Christian school where the goal is to teach each student how to live a life pleasing to his Creator; thus, living for eternal purposes and not just for temporal purposes.

REQUIREMENTS / PROCEDURES

Calvary Baptist Christian School requires that parents meet with one of the administrative staff as a first step in this decision making process. This interview is an informative orientation of the school’s philosophy, curriculum, discipline and doctrine. The parents must be in agreement with the beliefs and policies of the school before admission will be granted. Once the orientation is completed, the following requirements need to be met to secure placement in the school.

Testing

Applicants entering grades 2-11 will be given age-appropriate ability and achievement examinations. The scores achieved on these examinations will be used by the administration to determine the grade level best suited to the student’s capabilities. A student must place at or above the 30Th percentile to be granted placement in that grade level. The test will be administered in the language in which the child has received his primary education up until this point. (Note: It is the policy of the school to no t accept students in their final year of high school. As the need arises, however, the admissions committee will review each request on an individual basis.)

Preschool – Kindergarten

Upon completion of the interview and placement test, acceptance will be granted upon completion of all the necessary forms and payment of fees (see current price list for further explanation).
Children need to be toilet trained prior to entering preschool.
Preschool admissions policy regarding age: children must be age 3 or 4 by October 31st.
Kindergarten admissions policy regarding age: children must be 5 by October 31st.

Elementary – Middle School

Upon completion of the interview and placement test, acceptance will be granted upon completion of all the necessary forms and payment of fees (see current price list for further explanation).

Students eligible to attend who have previously attended a kindergarten program or otherwise demonstrate to the satisfaction of the school administration that they are socially and academically ready to progress may be placed in first grade.

High Schools

After passing the necessary testing, the student and parents will be required to fill out the high school application form. (This part of the admissions program applies to both current and new students.)

Upon receipt of all the necessary forms, the student and parents are required to meet for an interview with the admissions committee. Those students not attending church services at Calvary Baptist Tabernacle will be required to have the pastor of their church present as well. It is the desire of the school to recognize the authority of the local church. We therefore request the permission of your pastor for your child to attend school here. This can only be done properly if the pastor understands the principles and policies taught and practiced at this school.

Acceptance will be granted upon completion of all the necessary forms and payment of fees (see current price list for further explanation).

Church Attendance:

Re-enrollment:

Attendance at Calvary Baptist Christian School during one school year does not automatically assure enrollment in the school for the upcoming school year. Calvary Baptist Christian School reserves the right to make decisions about students on a yearly basis.

Should your child be accepted back for the following year, you will be asked in the beginning of February to reserve a sear for your child by paying an initial deposit of $150. Enrollment is the opened to students who are not presently enrolled in the school and no guarantee of a place for your child will be given after that if you haven’t paid the deposit. By May, a further payment of matriculation fees, etc. will be necessary to maintain a seat for your child for the next school year.

Students presently in 8th grade will be required, as are all new students entering high school, to fill out an application form and have an interview with the admissions committee before admission to 9th grade will be granted.

STATEMENT OF NONDISCRIMINATORY POLICY

Calvary Baptist Christian School admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students of the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarships and loan programs, and athletic and other school administered programs.
