Our Vision

Calvary Baptist Day School endeavors to teach students to acquire a deep and personal knowledge of Jesus Christ and His Word, to instruct students in order to give them the opportunity to achieve the highest levels of Christian scholarship and learning, and to encourage students to accomplish the eternal purposes for which God created them.

Our Mission

The mission of Calvary Baptist Day School is to teach and train students to think, learn, and live from a biblical worldview by integrating God and His Word as the primary source of knowledge and truth under the lordship of Jesus Christ.

School Motto

“Think, learn, and live for Jesus Christ”

As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and established in the faith , as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in him dwelled all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power.” (Colossians 2:6-10 ) (KJV)

Core Values

Christian education enlightens the understanding, corrects the temperament, forms the habits and manners, and prepares students for useful service. From a Christian worldview of presuppositions consistent with absolute biblical truth, students learn to discern right action and thinking from which they then exercise a proper role in their families, the Body of Christ, and as a citizens of the United States of America. (Romans 12: 1-2, 1Timothy 4:15)

Christian education is a cooperative effort between parents, faculty, and the local church which develops the spiritual, environmental and intellectual culture necessary for sound learning. Parents authorize both school and church to inspire, cultivate, consecrate, and instruct their children. By necessity, every teacher who teaches from a biblical philosophy of schooling must exemplify the excellent teaching gifts and qualities of character and scholarship worthy of a wholehearted commitment to Christ. All teachers must represent the spirit and discipline of their calling and embody the very goals they teach their students. (Deuteronomy 6:6-7; Galatians 6:6, James 3:1)

History

A brief history of Calvary Baptist Day School

In the late 1960’s, Calvary Baptist Church voted to support a preschool program that began the school known today as Calvary Baptist Day School. By 1971, a well received four and five year old program led Calvary Baptist Church to add 1st through 6th grades. By 1984, 7th and 8th grades were added to the program. The high school program was established in 1997. The first class had twenty students, and they were accepted to 25 colleges and universities with fourteen of the 20 students receiving academic scholarships.

Calvary Baptist Christian School began in 1983 with seven students. It was started to assist the members of our church in the education of their children. Soon after opening its doors, God brought other parents to us with a desire for Christian education for their children. While accepting students from outside of our membership, it is the desire of this ministry to maintain the same purpose, standards and practices with which it began. God has truly blessed this ministry through the years.

CBCS was accredited by the Association of Christian Schools (ACS) in 1988 and received joint accreditation from both ACSI and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) in 2005. In 2011 CBCS received dual accreditation from ACSI and SACS for our entire school program, Early Education through twelfth grade. Today CBCS serves hundreds of students who attend classes and worship in the six buildings shared with Calvary Baptist Tabernacle.

As visitors come to our campus and comment on our outstanding facilities we are quick to deflect any words to the honor of God. We understand to whom much is given, much is also required.
